MISSION & VALUES

Our aim is to provide relief to humanity and promote sustainable solutions

Mission

More than 1 billion people live with inadequate health provision and two thirds of the global population has no access to essential medical supplies. In the developing world, one in five children do not live to see their fifth birthday and in many countries over 1 in 10 women die as a result of avoidable complications in pregnancy or childbirth.

The international community is rightly striving to create viable local healthcare markets, but this is likely to take decades rather than months, and massive challenges remain.

Hundreds of millions of people lack access to essential primary healthcare medicines - the challenge that International Health Partners has accepted is to galvanise the resources of healthcare companies in Europe, to help treat the world’s most needy people.

Values

In undertaking all our programmes, IHP aims to:

  • Provide free medical aid to all needy peoples of the developing world without discrimination on the basis of ethnicity, religion, age or gender
  • Fulfill a unifying role within the UK's international aid and development community, by establishing partnerships of trust between the healthcare industry, NGOs, government and the medical community
  • Formally endorse, operate in compliance with, and promote the World Health Organization Guidelines on Drug Donations. IHP also subscribes to the Red Cross Code of Conduct and the World Economic Forum's Guiding Principles for Public-Private Collaboration for Humanitarian Action
  • Ensure that our actions support the Millennium Development Goals, particularly MDGs 4, 5 & 6.
