DOCTOR'S TRAVEL PACKS

Doctors travelling to and training within the developing world can apply to IHP for packs of donated medicines

Each year, hundreds of UK healthcare professionals travel overseas to take part in short term medical missions in the developing world. The Doctor's Travel Pack (DTP) is a pre-packed assortment of 50 lines of essential medicines and medical supplies designed to support these healthcare professionals as they treat people in need. IHP has been running the programme since 2005, and has provided over 600 DTPs to date.

The present DTP has a wholesale value of over £4,000 and is sufficient to provide up to 1,200 treatments for children and adults. These donated medicines come directly from the manufacturers, have good dating and are of the highest quality.

Who can apply?

The healthcare industry relies on IHP to ensure that all donated medical product is handled in a secure and professional manner. Accordingly, IHP only releases DTPs to qualified UK registered doctors, although in certain circumstances carriers need not be medically qualified.

We request a contribution of £370 per pack from the recipient doctor to enable us to cover the costs of administrating this programme, including couriering the pack to the UK doctors surgery.
