Our donors trust us. IHP works tirelessly to make sure that each and every donation recieves the care and attention required to ensure that the patients in need recieve the right medicines at the right time. Everything we do is tailored to enhancing the safety and integrity of each overseas shipment, and with the storage and handling of product undertaken at DHL's industry leading facility in Banbury, the product is treated with the same care and diligence that it would recieve from the manufacturer.
In order to operate the Doctor's Travel Pack programme, and provide ongoing support to our Partnership Projects, IHP relies on planned donations. Each year we approach our donors to request specific volumes of essential medicines that allow us to plan the year ahead. Typically we ask donors to donate stock every 6 months as this helps with our consistency of supply. All planned donations must use stock that has at least 18 months dating, so that within 6 months of us recieving the donation we are still able to get the stock into the destination country with a year's shelf life - this is recommended in the World Health Organisation's Guidleines for Drug Donations.
IHP encourages its partners to conduct regular inventory reviews, to identify whether there is surplus stock that may be offered for donation. There are many good reasons why a company may have good quality, in date stock that is surplus to requirements, and we invite any potential donors to contact us if they wish to investigate whether the stock could be utilised in the developing world.
