Long Term Health Programmes

Health problems are universal. Yet positive health outcomes are not. The quality of healthcare can be drastically different depending on where in the world you live. For billions of people around the world, basic medication is out of reach.

We want to change this. We are committed to providing access to global health and supporting vulnerable healthcare systems in low-and middle-income countries.  We want everyone to receive treatment they need, when they need it.

See how access to healthcare makes a difference

Our focuses

We want to see a world in which all suffering due to lack of healthcare is eradicated. To achieve this, we are making an impact on some of the biggest health challenges facing the world today.

Mental health

For years, people with mental health needs have faced widespread stigmatization and neglect. Mental health is therefore an area with massive unmet needs, and a lack of funding compared to other healthcare areas mental health provision is frequently overlooked. We are seeking to change this through the provision of medications in countries such as Palestine and Lebanon.

Neglected tropical diseases

Parasitic worm infections or soil-transmitted helminths, spread primarily in areas with inadequate sanitation. They interfere with children’s nutrient uptake, often leading to anaemia, malnourishment, and impaired mental and physical development. As a result, infection means that children are less likely to attend school, adversely affecting educational outcomes. Our work helps lessen the spread and allows people to overcome the challenges they create.

Non-communicable diseases

NCDs are the primary cause of death and disability worldwide. Four-fifths of these deaths  occur in low-and middle-income countries. Many treatments for NCDs require consistent access to a regime of medicine over a long period of time, which can cause major problems when access to treatment is stopped. IHP helps to provide people with regular and reliable access to treatments for non-communicable diseases.

Working with refugees

When people are forced to flee their homes due to natural disaster, conflict or persecution, their lives are thrust into turmoil. Displaced people often don’t have access to any stable healthcare, having left crucial medicines behind. We support refugees across the world by helping them gain access the healthcare they and their families need at a time of instability and uncertainty.

Women’s health

More than 800 women die every day in pregnancy or childbirth. Most of these deaths are easily preventable and almost all of them occur in low-income countries.  Simple changes, such as reliable access to relevant medicines, assistance during delivery and support after childbirth, make a profound difference. Our work helps improve access to these medicines to support safe delivery and increase survival rates of women so they can fulfil their vital roles as mothers.

Child oncology

Although the majority of  childhood cancers are curable,  the chance of survival in a low-income country is very low. Only 30% of children with cancer in these countries are cured. Cancer medication and treatment is expensive, making it unattainable for low-income families. This needs to change. We help ensure facilities around the world are equipped with oncology and cancer related treatments needed to provide the best treatments to children with cancer, provided free at the point of use.
