Our partnerships with Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs)

Our partnerships with NGOs are key to improving access to medicine and healthcare for the world’s most vulnerable people and communities. They are our feet on the ground, working alongside us to identify the greatest needs and to make sure our medicines get in the hands of the people who need them most.

How our partnerships make us stronger

Together, we can respond rapidly to humanitarian disasters and support long-term healthcare programmes. We also use donated products to equip doctors and other healthcare professionals for short-term medical trips. We asked our NGO partners why they like working with us. They told us:

We meet health needs

in places where medicines and supplies are scarce or non-existent. We also provide logistical support, guidance and documentation to facilitate shipping.

We set the standard

by supplying high-quality, safe medicines in settings where it's common to find false, counterfeit, or substandard product.

We reduce costs

in their medicine budgets, which enables them to invest in other vital health-programme activities.

How we work with NGOs

We respond quickly to disasters

We are part of the Integral Alliance, a network of 21 humanitarian NGOs who coordinate responses in the event of a disaster. When a crisis occurs, we work with members and others operating in the region to provide critical emergency medicine.

We support long-term healthcare programmes

We work with NGOs, national health ministries and UN agencies to deliver longer-term healthcare initiatives around the world - from broad primary healthcare projects to specific interventions in maternal health, non-communicable diseases, mental health and other areas.

We create & deliver Essential Health Packs (EHPs)

An EHP is a pre-packed kit, filled with a range of essential medicines to support critical primary health care delivery in any setting. These packs are most often used by those responding to the first stage of a disaster or by travelling medics.

Anera is very grateful for the generous IHP donations which are supporting our community at times where medicine is scarce, life-saving, and critically needed. Our partnership with IHP is very fruitful to Anera and to our partners, it enabled us to serve our needy patients in the best way we can.

LFAM was aware that the pandemic would present major challenges in shipping these vital medications and we appreciate the herculean efforts that IHP has contributed in getting the medications to their destinations.

- Life for African Mothers (LFAM) -

The EHPs we received thanks to IHP … have greatly helped the Nengo Project team in Bangui to provide medical care to victims and survivors and women and girls with grave gynaecological conditions like fistula. The medicines permitted the team to respond to spikes in demand for services as the project grew exponentially this year.

Our partners help save lives across the world

We work with 19 partners across 30+ countries to bring healthcare to those most in need.

Our partnership is four steps away

Here’s how we can start our journey together to create a greater impact.

Step 1 - Application and basic checks

When we evaluate potential new partners, we ask them to complete an application form and undergo a process of due diligence. In accordance with our MHRA licence, we need to ensure that NGO partners have adequate facilities and the appropriate capacity to store, distribute and dispense donations.

Step 2 - Sign a partnership agreement

Once we complete the due diligence process successfully, we will put in place a three-year partnership agreement. This enables us to support the NGO partner in multiple locations. In turn, partners are required to confirm the safe arrival of shipments and provide feedback on the donations received, including reports on how they use donations.

Step 3 - Discuss the finer details

In order to sustain our work and impact, we ask our NGO partners to make small contributions towards the cost of coordinating donations. These costs represent a fraction of the value of products donated:

  • £320 per pallet for medicines.

  • £160 per pallet for medical supplies.

  • £485 for an Essential Health Pack (800+ courses of treatment).

  • Shipping costs and customs/import fees.

Step 4 – Let’s start shipping

We’re partners! We can now begin meeting critical healthcare needs. We will provide training on our processes and systems, and guide you through getting our first shipment delivered to you.
