In Guatemala, we were able to distribute 720,000 treatments of de-worming medication through our partner Food for the Poor, supporting local health clinics to provide this needed medicine for free. Mother-of-seven Cristela was among those to receive it. With no running water, she must buy drinking water from a nearby town, and cannot keep her children from playing in infected soil. “The last time they got sick, the doctor recommended deworming due to the conditions where we live,” she explains. “This year, I was not able to afford the treatment because the medication is too expensive.” Thanks to our donations, the children were treated, and their risk of malnutrition reduced.
