TLM (‘Their Lives Matter’ or ‘Tumaini la Maisha’, meaning ‘hope for life’) is dedicated to caring for children with cancer and their families, and provides both clinical and non-clinical supportive services. In particular, it works within the national health framework of Tanzania to provide continuing medical education for local professionals, implement programmes (medical and psychosocial) that deliver top quality care, and extend outreach until all children with cancer in Tanzania are reached.

TLM helped to establish the first paediatric oncology services in Tanzania. In collaboration with the government-run national hospital in Dar es Salaam, TLM has also created a specialist treatment unit for children with cancer. It is working with other clinics and hospitals across the country to build a network of referral and treatment services.
