Donate Products

We’ve been partnering with pharmaceutical manufacturers and medical supplies companies across the healthcare industry in Europe for the last 15 years.

We work with household names and specialist companies. Some companies give regularly, while others donate in response to specific circumstances.

Our partners donate a range of medicines and medical products. These include:

  • Prescription medicines
  • Over-the-counter medicines
  • Vaccines
  • Medical supplies, instruments and devices

To partner with us and donate products, find out more here.

International Health Partners are only able to accept medicines and supplies directly from approved medical companies that are in partnership with us. We must follow strict due diligence processes as per the MHRA regulations and under our licensed wholesaler certification. We therefore cannot receive donations of medicines and supplies from members of the public. However if you would like to support us in other ways please click here to donate or here to sign up to receive our news.

Find out more below about how products are donated and used:

Can any type of medical product be donated?

Expand

We follow the World Health Organization guidelines for medicine donations. This means we only accept donations that meet an existing and urgent need; and donations that have nine or more months of shelf life

Can donations be made ad hoc?

Expand

In short, yes. For example, when an emergency or disaster occurs, we will put out an urgent appeal for products that can meet needs on the ground. However, we also plan ahead. We have several well-established initiatives, including our Essential Health Pack programme and various long-term health programmes. To meet their ongoing needs, we present these requirements to our healthcare partner companies on an annual basis, asking them to commit to supply specific quantities of products. We also encourage our partners to conduct regular reviews of inventory so they can identify opportunities to donate suitable products.

Can partners stipulate where products are sent?

Expand

We listen carefully to our donors’ wishes and respect regulatory and commercial requests so will not send products to named places. However, we reserve the right to send all other donations to the places where we determine they are most needed.

Why Donate?

Expand

Donating products not only brings benefits for wider society; it also benefits our healthcare partner companies.

For companies, donations:

  • Reduce costs: by donating quality medicines, companies can avoid the costs of having to destroy their surplus products
  • Enhance reputation: companies that contribute to the good of society by donating products are often viewed more positively by employees, customers, governments, media and the public

For society, donations:

  • Save lives: around the world, product donations make a huge difference to people who cannot otherwise get access to medicines
  • Meet needs: thanks to our online system that matches product donations with specific needs flagged up by our NGO partners, we can allow donors to track donations. They can also find out how they are being used
  • Increase impact: when companies donate different products in tandem, they often multiply the effectiveness of the resources they make available
  • Wider societal impact: product donations mean NGOs can spend resources on other aspects; free medicines means families and individuals don’t have to choose between medicine and food
